Eligibility & Fee structure, B.Ed. Course

The selected candidates having the required percentage of marks minimum 50% as per NCTE norms at graduation examination in Science, Arts & Commerce from any recognised university or equivalent degree from any recognised with two school subjects being taught at secondary school level are eligible to get admission to the B.Ed. course.

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with Science and/or Mathematics, with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are also eligible for admission. Such candidates are required to enter the marks of B.E/B.Tech. in the row of Honoure Degree. M.E./M.Tech result (if any) will be entered in the Master’s Degree row.
  • Reservation of seats for SC/ST/PWD (Minimum disability 40%) candidates will be as per Govt. Rules. Relaxation of minimum qualifying marks will be as per Govt. Rules. The Reservation as stated is not applicable for Self-Financed Colleges.
  • For Deputed Candidates, merit list will be prepared separately for each school subject based on length of service.
  • 20% of the seats (for self-financed colleges) and 50% of the seats for the WBUTTEPA (erstwhile David Hare Training College), will be reserved for Deputed teachers of class IX-XII. Deputed teachers mean the teachers serving as substantive posts.

The total fee for the full duration of the B.Ed. course is Rs. 1,50,000/- (One lac fifty thousand only) prescribed by the WBUTTEPA which will be paid Rs. 75,000/- at the time of admission i.e. 1st year and the next instalment Rs. 75000/- in the 2nd year.

Eligibility & Fee structure, D.El.Ed. Course

Candidates who have passed the senior secondary/Intermediate examination having required percentage of marks are eligible to get admission to the D.El.Ed. course (two year duration)

  • Should pass the H.S (+2) Examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board/Council/University with at least 50% marks in the aggregate. There is however, a relaxation of 5% marks for the applicant belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-service man categories.
  • Should not be above 35 years of age (40 years of age for SC/ST/OBC/PH)
  • For Vocational-course pass applicants:
  • 4& (i.e. two out of fifty) of the seats shall be earmarked for applicants coming from the vocational stream course (+2 level) under any Board/University/Council or its equivalent, regardless of categories.
  • Such vocational course pass applicants must have studied at least two language including English at the +2 stage.
  • Such vocational course pass applicants should score at list 50% marks  at the +2 stage.
  • Such vocational course pass applicants, however, shall not be eligible for other seats under any conditions of backwardness or Physical disability.
  • 5(Five) seats in D.I.E.Ts, Govt./Govt. Sponsored/ Govt.Aided Primary Teachers Training Institutes will be kept reserved for in-service Primary Teachers, appointed before 03.09.2001 having 50% or 45% (as the case may be) at the H.S.(+2) Examination or its equivalent, if duly deputed by the competent authority. If there are more than five applications in this category, five will be selected from among them in order of merit.

In case of non-availability of such candidates the seats shall be filled up from among the merit listed candidates in order of merit as per reservation rules.

  • Ten (10%) percent of the total intake of a private institution shall be reserved under Management Quota. No such reservation will be there in case of a Government/Government Sponsored/Govt. Aided institution. In case of such reservations, admission procedures and other terms and conditions for admission, as prescribed, should also maintained strictly.

The total fee for the full duration of the course is to be paid as per the prescribed fee schedule by WBBPE, Kolkata in the form of D.D./RTGS/money transfer in favour of Barasat College of Teacher Education, SBI, Awal Siddhi Branch A/C No. 34916076717, IFSC No. SBIN0008354 in the two equal instalments each year.

Attendance and Periodical Examination

Student must be regular in attendance in classes including practical and internship 75% attendance in a paper for appearing at the university examination is compulsory provided the students has 80% in practice teaching and other co-curricular activities.

Regular periodical examination shall be conducted throughout the course. In addition there shall be regular assessment of students assignment. In case of absence from any periodical examination without any reasonable ground which is not satisfactory to the college administration, the student shall not be allowed to appear at the university examination.
