Aims and Objectives of the College

Human being is a rational animal and its rationality needs knowledge and expertise for manifestation in action and behavior to justify its status as the best and most beneficial creature in the whole realm of God, the universe. The changing world order and necessities of every aspect of modern civilization require personnel of specific expertise in their field of action and duties.

The underlying aim for the enhancement of literacy rate together with the teaching Professional capability and level of awareness about the different problems related to social, political, cultural and economic nature among the people of this rural based semi-urban area has led to the socially and economically well established people of the decade to open a teacher education institution with the objective to meet the requirements of efficient teaching professionals for quality education. The teacher training College in this region could produce human resources which could be safely entrusted with the responsibility of teaching the students in an atmosphere conducive to the healthy growth of character of the students in the light of the cultural, religious and linguistic heritage of the community so that they may be able to discharge their national obligation with the imbued quality of heart, head and character, making secular India richer and more glorious.

Hence to fulfil the long standing necessity of the population of this region, the management of the College sponsored and established the college of teacher education in the year 2014 with composit  program, D.El.Ed. & B.Ed. courses with an intake of 100 students in each course. It is a matter of pleasure to note that the Eastern Regional committee, National Council for Teacher Education, Bhubaneswar in 2014 after the enactment of the central Act has accorded the recognition to both the courses vide letter No. ERCAPP 3971/D.El.Ed./2016/50687 dated. 27.12.2016 & ERCAPP- 3953/B.Ed./2016/50663 dated. 27.05.2016.

Further, it is a matter of pleasure to note that the West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, Education Planning and Administration, Kolkata has granted affiliation vide letter No. WBUTTEPA/R.O./AFFL/267(40)A/2017 dated. 09.06.2017 & West Bengal Board of Primary education, Kolkata granted affiliation vide its Letter No. 434/Affil/BPE/2017 dt. 13.01.2017 for this we offer our gratitude and thanks to all these educational Bodies. As a matter of fact, this College enjoys a unique position in the fraternity of the university by establishing in the semi-urban region on the side of N.H. 34 and the dream visualised by the guardians of the society become reality of today. Barasat College of Teacher Education holds a unique position in the realm of Vocational education by virtue of the dedicated services of its staff and enlightened leadership of the management, thus being crowned with laurels after laurels on all fronts.

Discipline of the college is exemplary which is a matter of satisfaction to all concern. Every breath of its life emits fragrance, permeating the entire atmosphere with virtue, truth and love inculcated into the soul of every students thus enabling them to fulfil and take up the generous task of shaping young mind and contribute to the building of a strong and integrated nation. Regular exercises like debates, seminars, symposia and other cultural activities and sports are regular features of the college during the period of training and the students are kept fully engaged throughout the academic session to come out fully balanced persons through this process.

The College is situated in a peaceful and pollution free area on the main road N.H. 34 leading to Barasat and Kolkata and another side Krishnanagar and Malda etc. in a quiet and calm location giving a pleasant impression. The College has good infrastructure for excellent academic pursuits for example spacious class rooms, rich library with thousands of books, journals, reference books, magazines and daily news papers, well equipped laboratories, computerised administrative offices, well maintained multipurpose  play ground, qualified and devoted teaching faculty and efficient cooperative non-teaching staff. It has an attractive spacious campus view with proper boundary wall from all sides around a lush green ground surrounded by natural gifts on the western side of the campus giving a pleasant and studious environment to the students, staff and all visitors.

The managing committee of Barasat College of Teacher Education is very much conscious of the fact that the institution should be a model institution in the region of west Bengal which may bloom into one of the best centres of vocational education of the state and thus a symbol of glory for this region. The co-curricular activities are held regularly according to the academic calendar for the overall development and numerous benefits of the students. The management gives sufficient grant for all these activities in the college.

The college offers the service of xerox machine for the students and staff of the college together with the generator facility on a nominal charge. There is a availability of internet facility for them keeping in view that an wide range of knowledge be opened. The college provides a canteen from which one may enjoy refreshments, tea & coffee at subsidised rates with separate rooms for boys & girls under the supervision of one teaching faculty. The provision of safe drinking water is available at both the floors of college building. Separate well maintained toilets are available on all floors. These are the special features of the college for which the administration is very particular and prompt in maintaining the decency & decorum of the institution. 

OUR COLLEGE LIBRARY

The rich library of the college having nearly seven thousand books in the various areas of Education as well as general Education, Journals, Periodicals, daily news papers adorn the library. There is also a reading room attached with it for the use of the students & staff.

Medium of Instruction

Bengali and English: The trainees are allowed to complete his/her course either in Bengali or English. There is no scope of any other language to pursue the course except Bengali and English. All the examinations, assignments, Practicum must have to write Either in Bengali or English.
